Argentina - Cost of Living (How cheap is living in Argentina?)
| Is Buenos Aires more expensive than Uruguay? I am currently living in Montevideo, Uruguay but I was thinking about maybe moving to Buenos Aires sometime in the next year or so. When I arrived I was really shocked at how high the prices were in Uruguay and I was just wondering if anyone could give me some insight in to the prices in BA?Buses, metros, trains etc...are these expensive? Are they necessary or is it easy to get around the city on foot? Is food shopping expensive? Are there street markets like in Uruguay or are there cheaper places to buy your food? How expensive would a one bed apartment in the city center be? Is going out expensive? like the cinema, or clubs and events? any advice would be great, thanks! |
| This might help. It has many international cities you can compare with too. |
| Did you actually read that? At the bottom it says:6 November, 2007. I think it is less than useless. |
| "Beyond Cost of Living"
Cost of living is just one factor you should use in making a decision. Quality of life, comfort, what works for you are important too.You simply cannot put a dollar figure on both places and then make a decision based on which is cheaper! For example, someone says apartment rental is $x per month. How do you know if that is an apartment you'd be comfortable in, or a neighborhood you'd enjoy living in? They are very close to each other, so hop on a plane to one of them... stay for a while at least 3 months if you like the place. If it doens't connect with your leave as soon as possible. Then check out the other place. Anything else is just building imaginary concepts in your mind... great if you are an armchair expat... but useless if you actually plan to move someplace. For me, the unpleasant attitude expressed by so many Argentinians in Buenos Aires would make that a terrible place for to live, regardless of any other factors (ie: cost of living). But, for you, it might not bother you, or you might like it. |
